PREFACE

Writing a book is a tough task but I am happy that I have accomplished it successfully. This book is a critical analysis of the plays written by famous dramatist Vijay Tendulkar. Tendulkar has highlighted various social causes and problems through the medium of his plays. He has unveiled the problems of women marginalization, patriarchy, caste-based discrimination, gender inequality, greed for power, name, fame, money, and human trafficking in his works. 
Present work highlights the social problems prevailing in the society. Division of people and discrimination on the base of caste has been presented in this book. Light has also been shed on the topic of patriarchy and the marginalization of women. In this book, three major works written by Vijay Tendulkar are taken under consideration. 
Play Kamala based on human trafficking, marginalization and objectification of women in the patriarchic world has been studied deeply. Next play Kanyadaan is a play based on casteism, where a Brahmin girl has to face the hardships of life after getting married to a Dalit boy. Last play is Sakharam Binder which highlights the problem of women marginalization and objectification in this male governed patriarchic society. 
Thus, all over the present work “A STUDY SOCIAL ISSUES IN THE PLAYS OF VIJAY TENDULKAR: KANYADAAN, GHASIRAM KOTWAL AND SAKHARAM BINDER” is a deep and critical study of the above works and efforts have been made to bring out some new things and solutions for these challenging problems which are co-existing in the society.  The book also studies the psychological struggles and motivations of Tendulkar’s characters’ actions, providing insight into the complexities of human behavior. These characters embody the dilemmas and conflicts faced by individuals within the larger societal context.
I wish to convey my profound gratitude to the divine for bestowing upon me such remarkable parents, whose guidance has endowed me with education and independence. I would like to express my gratitude and respect to my husband and family for supporting me at each step of my life. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my esteemed teachers and mentors for imparting earnest wisdom unto me. Furthermore, I am indebted to my friends and companions who provided unwavering encouragement and camaraderie throughout my journey. Their belief in my aspirations fueled my determination and added color to my experiences. 
As I reflect on this endeavor, I am reminded of the countless hours spent in research, contemplation, and writing. This book is not just a culmination of my efforts but a manifestation of the collective wisdom and support that have accompanied me throughout my learning journey. It is my hope that readers will find within these pages a source of inspiration, a spark for contemplation and a window to the profound observations that our society evokes. Writing a book is not less than a challenge and I am glad that I have triumphed over this endeavor, penning an exquisite and captivating literary analysis that stands as a poignant reflection of our society.
